In the Matter of the Claim of Mohammed Ali
Claimant Mohammed Ali appealed a Workers' Compensation Board decision that found he violated Workers' Compensation Law § 114-a by knowingly making false statements regarding his prior work-related injuries. The Board disqualified him from receiving wage replacement benefits from July 31, 2014, to May 20, 2020, and permanently disqualified him from future benefits. The Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department, affirmed the Board's findings, concluding that substantial evidence supported the violation and that the discretionary penalty was not an abuse of discretion.
