JESUS ROBLEDO vs. JIT TRANSPORTATION, BARRETT BUSINESS SERVICES

The Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) granted reconsideration of an award finding applicant sustained a traumatic brain injury arising out of and in the course of employment. Subsequently, the parties informed the WCAB of their intent to settle the case via Compromise & Release. Therefore, the WCAB rescinded the prior award and returned the case to the trial judge to consider the settlement's adequacy. If the settlement is not approved, the original award will be reinstated for further proceedings.

ESTHER ROBLEDO vs. SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

This case concerns an applicant who sustained industrial injuries to her knees, left ankle, and left hip. The administrative law judge found the employer failed to provide proper notice of its Medical Provider Network (MPN) prior to the injury. This failure was determined to have resulted in a denial of care, making the employer responsible for treatment obtained outside the MPN. The Workers' Compensation Appeals Board denied the employer's petition for reconsideration, affirming the original award of benefits for out-of-network treatment.
